The Board of Selectmen held a special meeting on Friday, August 8, 2008 at 3:30p.m. in the Mary Hawley Room located at the Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown,CT 06470.
First Selectman Borst called the meeting to order at 3:35pm
PRESENT: First Selectman Joseph Borst, Selectman Paul Mangiafico, Selectman Herb Rosenthal.
ALSO PRESENT: Christopher Kelsey
Items voted on after executive session:
1. Discussion prior to a motion, H. Rosenthal pointed out that according to the
Charter, Section 5-20, the First Selectman, with the approval of the Board of Selectmen, shall appoint a Tax Assessor. However, the First Selectman is responsible for setting the Tax Assessor’s salary.
2. H. Rosenthal moved that the Board of Selectmen approve the employment of
Christopher Kelsey as the Town of Newtown’s new Tax Assessor at a starting salary of $65,000.00 per year. Unanimous vote in the affirmative.
There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 4:55p.m.
